Slope Stabilisation
Ritchies has a proven track record in delivering solutions for unstable slopes and in constructing new slopes designed to provide long term stability. We have the skills and experience to provide design and construction services for soil slopes, rock slopes and embankments.

Ground Anchors
Retaining wall support, foundation strengthening and pipeline/tank uplift are just some examples of where our expertise in all aspect of ground anchor design and construction brings benefit to our Clients. We engineer solutions to provide resistance against wind loading, cantilevered supports, tensioned components to piled structures and a wealth of other applications.

Abandoned Mine Workings
With increasing redevelopment of ‘Brownfield’ sites treatment of old Mine Workings to stabilise subsurface conditions and enable sites to be reused is becoming a common part of rehabilitation and redevelopment work. Ritchies is building a reputation for working closely with Clients and their consultants to ensure cost effective treatments and fully engineered solutions.

Site Enabling Works
Ritchies works closely with developers to provide effective site enabling works allowing optimum use of space and enhancing speedy and economic development. Advanced civil engineering and geotechnical proposals are developed by the Ritchies team enabling the developer to progress the structural elements of the scheme at the earliest opportunity.

Water Cut-Off and Stabilisation
Exclusion of water seepage through the ground or structures often requires lateral thinking and innovative approaches. With a variety of different situations successfully resolved to date Ritchies is ideally placed to develop solutions using the right techniques to achieve our Client’s requirements.

Foundations
With over 30 years of experience gained throughout the UK and overseas there are few examples of ground conditions which we have not tackled and provided appropriate foundation solutions. With this experience backed by a broad diversity of plant and equipment together and the knowledge of different proprietary systems Ritchies can provide the most suitable method for solving the circumstances.

Distressed Structures
Structures displaying distress as result of adverse ground conditions, age or changes in loadings often require a combination of techniques in order to deliver the best solution. We have provided solutions for road and rail bridges, retaining walls, old quay and harbour walls, river training structures, tunnels, shafts, sea defences and docks using our combination of Ground Engineering, Ground Investigation and Concrete Technologies to solve problems and enhance these often vital pieces of infrastructure.

Blasting Requirements
While Ritchies assists the aggregates industry by drilling and blasting approximately 30 million tonnes each year, larger civils contracts sometimes require hard rock excavation by blasting or have a demand for site sourced aggregates. Ritchies is second to none in assisting our Clients and Partners to do this safely and cost effectively.

Difficult Sites
On occasions doing the job is the easy part with access and working conditions being the difficult part. There are not many scenarios that Ritchies have not encountered in the past and this gives us a distinct advantage when developing methods to deal with awkward sites. Our in-house Plant Department and workshops provide us with special and often one-off pieces of equipment that enable us to deliver our services in places that standard plant and equipment cannot reach.

Working in marine conditions usually requires a special blend of experience and innovation. Understanding these special circumstances is one of our specialities - equipping us to handle and most inshore projects with confidence.
